September 1975
Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) was established with the merger of Standards Institution of Malaysia (SIM) and National Institute for Scientific and Industrial Research (NISIR) A Statutory Body under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment Malaysia Governed by SIRIM Council
July 1993
SIRIM Act was amended to allow SIRIM to operate as a contract research organisation, and to establish joint ventures and subsidiaries
November 1995
SIRIM Berhad was incorporated
1 September 1996  
SIRIM Berhad came into operation as a successor company to the Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia under the Standards Act 1996.
