SIRIM OFFERS MORE TECHNOLOGY EXPERTISE TO SARAWAK INDUSTRY

MIRI, 5 October 2017: SIRIM-Industry Engagement programme a joint effort by SIRIM, Ministry of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development (MIED Sarawak), Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers Development, SME Bank Group and Sarawak Manufacturers’ Association (SMA) held here today offers various technology applications and services in efforts to enhance the productivity of Sarawak industries and entrepreneurs.
 
More than 130 representatives from government agencies, industry associations as well as local entrepreneurs from various sectors including food & beverage and oil and gas industries in Sarawak attended the programme.
 
Themed “Sustaining Your Business in a Challenging Market”, the SIRIM-Industry Engagement programme emphasised to participants the importance of Quality Management System, the one-day programme was graced by Assistant Minister of Industries and Investment, Sarawak, Malcom Mussen Lamoh.
 
“We believe technology can be used to create growth and making the industry sectors more sustainable and profitable,” said Malcom during the opening ceremony.
 
The Assistant Minister also urged entrepreneurs in Sarawak to participate in the SIRIM- Fraunhofer programme which was designed specifically to increase productivity through technology application. He also stressed on the importance of technology and innovation in business.
 
“Innovation is an important element in any businesses and SIRIM can help entrepreneurs to embrace innovation in their businesses by incorporating technology and innovative ideas. MIED will always be a strong supporter of innovation programmes especially for SMEs,” he added.
 
Meanwhile, President and Group Chief Executive of SIRIM, Prof Ir Dr Ahmad Fadzil Mohamad Hani said, SIRIM has been mandated by the government to increase technology penetration and upgrading their businesses and subsequently establish a successful Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) innovation ecosystem.
 
“SIRIM has made its presence in Sarawak since 1980s and we have more than 30 years of experience, offering technology application and enhancement in various sectors such as manufacturing, oil and gas, and services to name a few,” he added. His speech was read by Vice President Group Strategic Planning of SIRIM, Goay Peck Sim.
“Working hand in hand with MIED Sarawak, our SIRIM’s State office in Kuching has conducted various SME Development programmes and developed micro enterprises in ceramics technology training for entrepreneurs namely Program Inkubator Seramik MIED – SIRIM,” he said.
 
SIRIM’s technology applications had benefited various communities in Sarawak, among other things, cosmetics and detergent technology, the micro–hydro power generation system at Kampung Seri Stamang 2, in Lubok Antu and the latest community project is the Satu Daerah Satu Industri Homestay Program in Sadong Jaya and in Lundu.
 
“SIRIM is also collaborating with a local council in Kuching to propose a Smart Sticker System as a new approach to their monitoring system,” he said.
 
In August, Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Utara has agreed to use SIRIM’s printed security license with QR Code link to Mobile Apps to enhance the monitoring system of Food Premise License and Certificates holder for their customers in Kuching. 
 
Apart from networking session provided to help and guide SMEs for better product and services development, participants of the SIRIM-Industry Engagement programme were also introduced to SIRIM Industrial Innovation Model and the Technology Audit programme; a collaboration between SIRIM and Fraunhofer Germany, with the support of the Malaysian government that will help SMEs to be more competitive, innovative and productive to make their products more accessible to the market and internationally accepted.
 
The Technology Audit looks at six major components such as productivity, trends in processes and method, technology management, employees, organisation/networking and technology strategy.

Through various technology applications available at SIRIM, the organisation is also able to add value to Sarawak’s digital economy initiative.

 As of August, a total of 446 SMEs had participated in this technology audit and following the exercise, SIRIM has assisted them with various technology interventions including the enhancement of automation and mechanisation in their manufacturing or production process.

SIRIM TAWAR KEPAKARAN TEKNOLOGI DI SARAWAK

MIRI, 5 OKTOBER 2017: Program Keterlibatan SIRIM-Industri satu usahasama oleh SIRIM, Kementerian Pembangunan Perindustrian dan Usahawan (MIED Sarawak), Persekutuan Pekilang-pekilang Malaysia, Kumpulan SME Bank dan Persatuan Pengilang Sarawak (SMA) yang diadakan di sini hari ini menawarkan pelbagai aplikasi dan perkhidmatan teknologi dalam usaha meningkatkan produktiviti industri dan usahawan di Sarawak.
 
Lebih 130 wakil dari agensi kerajaan, persatuan industri dan usahawan tempatan dari pelbagai sektor termasuk industri makanan dan minuman serta industri minyak dan gas di Sarawak telah hadir pada program itu.
 
Bertemakan “Kelestarian Perniagaan di dalam Pasaran yang Mencabar”, program Keterlibatan SIRIM-Industri menekankan kepada kepentingan Sistem Pengurusan Kualiti, program satu hari itu telah disempurnakan oleh Menteri Muda Industri dan Pelaburan, Sarawak, Malcom Mussen Lamoh.
 
“Kami percaya teknologi boleh digunakan untuk mewujudkan pertumbuhan dan menjadikan industri lebih mampan dan menguntungkan,” kata Malcom semasa majlis perasmian program itu.
 
Menteri Muda berkenaan turut menggesa usahawan di Sarawak untuk mengambil bahagian dalam program SIRIM-Fraunhofer yang dibangunkan khusus untuk meningkatkan produktiviti melalui aplikasi teknologi. Beliau juga menegaskan berkenaan kepentingan teknologi dan inovasi dalam perniagaan.
 
Inovasi merupakan elemen penting dalam setiap perniagaan dan SIRIM boleh membantu usahawan bagi memperkasakan inovasi dalam perniagaan mereka dengan menggabungkan teknologi dan idea inovatif. MIED akan sentiasa menyokong program inovasi terutamanya kepada Perusahan Kecil dan Sederhana (PKS),” katanya.
 
Sementara itu, Presiden dan Ketua Eksekutif Kumpulan SIRIM, Prof Ir Dr Ahmad Fadzil Mohamad Hani berkata, SIRIM telah diberi mandat oleh kerajaan untuk meningkatkan penembusan teknologi dan menaik taraf perniagaan mereka, seterusnya mewujudkan inovasi ekosistem PKS yang baik.
 
“SIRIM telah bertapak di Sarawak sejak tahun 1980-an dan kami mempunyai lebih 30 tahun pengalaman dalam menyediakan aplikasi teknologi dan penambahbaikan dalam pelbagai sektor antaranya pengeluaran, minyak dan gas, serta perkhidmatan,” katanya. Teks ucapan beliau dibacakan oleh Naib Presiden Perancangan Strategik Kumpulan SIRIM, Goay Peck Sim.
 
“Pejabat Cawangan SIRIM di Sarawak dengan kerjasama MIED Sarawak, telah mengadakan pelbagai program Pembangunan PKS dan membangunkan perusahaan mikro dalam bimbingan teknologi seramik kepada usahawan iaitu Program Inkubator Seramik MIED- SIRIM,”katanya.
 
Aplikasi teknologi SIRIM telah dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat di Sarawak antaranya, teknologi  kosmetik dan bahan pencuci, sistem janakuasa mikro-hidro di Kampung Seri Stamang 2, di Lubok Antu serta projek komuniti terbaru SIRIM, Program Inap Desa Satu Daerah Satu Industri di Sadong Jaya dan di Lundu.
 
“SIRIM turut bekerjasama dengan Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan di Kuching iaitu cadangan Sistem Pelekat Pintar sebagai langkah baru kepada sistem pemantauan mereka,” katanya.
 
Ogos lalu, Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Utara telah bersetuju untuk menggunakan lesen keselamatan bercetak SIRIM dengan pautan QR Code ke aplikasi mudah alih bagi meningkatkan sistem pemantauan bagi pemegang Lesen Premis Makanan dan Sijil untuk pelanggan mereka di Kuching.
 
Selain daripada sesi rangkaian kerjasama yang disediakan untuk membantu dan membimbing PKS untuk produk yang lebih baik serta pembangunan perkhidmatan rangkaian, peserta program Keterlibatan SIRIM- Industri juga diperkenalkan kepada Model Inovasi Industri SIRIM dan program Audit Teknologi; kerjasama antara SIRIM dan Fraunhofer German, dengan sokongan kerajaan Malaysia yang akan membantu PKS menjadi lebih berdaya saing, inovatif dan produktif bagi membolehkan produk mereka lebih mudah didapati dan diterima di pasaran antarabangsa.
 
Audit Teknologi menjurus kepada enam komponen utama seperti produktiviti, trend dalam proses dan kaedah, teknologi pengurusan, pekerja, organisasi/ rangkaian dan strategi teknologi.
 
Melalui pelbagai aplikasi teknologi yang terdapat di SIRIM, organisasi ini juga boleh memberi nilai tambah kepada inisiatif ekonomi digital Sarawak.
 
Sehingga Ogos, sebanyak 446 PKS telah menyertai audit teknologi dan mengikuti latihan, SIRIM telah membantu mereka dalam pelbagai intervensi teknologi termasuk peningkatan di dalam automasi dan mekanisasi di dalam proses pembuatan dan pengeluaran mereka.
