SIRIM PRESIDENT AND GROUP CHIEF EXECUTIVE
SPECIAL MESSAGE

Dear SIRIM'S Partners and Clients,

As COVID-19 continues to impact all of us, and the country now enters the phase of Conditional Movement Control Order, I would like to update you on the steps SIRIM has taken to ensure business continuity for our valuable partners and clients.

SIRIM, an agency under the purview of Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), have resumed physical operations since 4 May 2020 in line with the Government's decision to open more economic sectors to ensure sustainable growth, protection of jobs and securing incomes.

All SIRIM's premises across the country have been reopened. Our offices in Shah Alam headquarters as well as regional offices in Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan, Johor Bahru, Melaka, Perak, Permatang Pauh (Penang), Kuching and Kota Kinabalu; as well as technology centres in Bukit Jalil, Rasa and Sepang, and in Kulim, Kedah are ready to assist in revitalising your businesses battered by this unprecedented pandemic.

In resuming our operations, all the necessary safety protocols are adhered to as per the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health, National Security Council and MITI. We are focused on ensuring both the health and safety of our employees, clients and partners as well as business continuity.

Our team is committed in finding solutions on how SIRIM can best play its role post COVID-19. We will continue to seek new opportunities to help local industries and businesses cushion the impact of the global crisis.

Indeed, this is the new beginning of a new normal. We have changed certain processes to accommodate the requirements of social distancing. Mobile consignment testing services are offered to clients where we bring our testing equipment to your premises to get your products certified quickly and safely.

We introduced remote auditing for various sectors, online applications for services such as certification, testing and inspection. Our trainings and consultancy are now available online as webinars and video conferencing become the platform of choice for knowledge enhancement and meetings.

The need to shift into digitalisation has never been timelier and the leap into Industry 4.0 is now materialising at a faster speed as we integrate automation and digital technologies into our work processes.

For Small and Medium Enterprises in the manufacturing sector, we will continue to enhance your productivity by technology penetration and upgrading under the SIRIM-Fraunhofer Programme. An attractive funding package offered by our financial partner is also available for participating companies to alleviate financial hindrances.

We are assessing scenarios and actively monitoring the situation, developing strategies on how best we can support local businesses and industries navigate the current circumstances.  Do participate in our COVID-19 Impact Survey, as your input is of utmost importance in our quest to gauge the effect on business activities following the COVID-19 pandemic, and in return, offer the best solution for your business.
