During the same event, SIRIM Berhad an agency under the purview of Ministry of Trade and International (MITI) also pledged to be corruption-free as an effort to prevent graft, abuse of power and misconduct in its business activities.
A total of 200 employees were physically present to recite the corruption-free pledge and the rest made their pledge virtually at the ceremony held at SIRIM Headquarters, here.
The program was graced by Chairman of SIRIM Berhad, Tan Sri Dr Ir. Ahmad Tajuddin Ali. Also present was President and Group Chief Executive of SIRIM Berhad, Dato' Dr Ahmad Sabirin Arshad, Director of Selangor Malaysian Anti-corruption (MACC), Dato' Alias Salim and Chief Executive Officer of Institute Integrity Malaysia (IIM), Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi.
President and Group Chief Executive of SIRIM Berhad, Dato' Dr Ahmad Sabirin Arshad said OACP SIRIM 2022 – 2026 is an anti-corruption policy document that reflects SIRIM Group's commitment in combating corruption in its business operations.
"The anti-corruption strategic management action plan was developed in line with the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) to address issues and poor governance, integrity and anti-corruption with guidance from IIM.
“OACP SIRIM 2022 – 2026 will work as a guidance to all SIRIM employees in carrying out the planned efforts thus contributing to the achievement of the government's aspiration in ensuring that Malaysia is known for its integrity", he added.
Dato' Dr Ahmad Sabirin said SIRIM Group are committed to continuously strengthen human governance in a more assertive manner in enhancing integrity, transparency, and accountability.
"This can only be done with high commitment and cooperation from all employees of SIRIM Group at all levels and its customers. This plan will be the best guide for SIRIM Group to move towards a more robust and developed organisation", he added.
SIRIM Group has implemented various initiatives since 2017 in strengthening the organisational structure towards upholding the integrity of the management and administrative systems, improving best governance and reducing bureaucracy. Among the initiatives were the Pledge of Integrity Corruption-Free in 2017; introduction of No Gifts Policy in 2018; introduction of Whistleblowing Policy in 2019 and implementation of Corruption Risk Assessment in 2019.
