SIRIM QAS International Launches the Social Accountability Scheme - SIRIM 50

                 

PUTRAJAYA, 18 May 2022: SIRIM QAS International, badan penilaian pematuhan utama Malaysia, anak syarikat milik SIRIM Berhad, hari ini melancarkan Skim Akauntabiliti Sosial – SIRIM 50 bagi membantu syarikat di Malaysia untuk mengurus impak perniagaan mereka terhadap masyarakat dan komuniti yang berkaitan keperluan tenaga kerja, hak-hak pekerja dan kebajikan serta keselamatan persekitaran kerja.

 

The SIRIM 50 standard aims to enhance social accountability and operations of companies. It was developed by SIRIM’s subsidiary, SIRIM STS Sdn Bhd, as the basis for the provision of training and consultancy services, as well as a guide for the auditing and inspection of employers based in Malaysia.

 

The ceremony was officiated by President and Group Chief Executive SIRIM Berhad, Dato’ Dr Ahmad Sabirin Arshad. Vice President and Chairman, Human Resource Management Committee Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM), Dato’ Nathan K Suppiah and Chief Executive Officer of SIRIM QAS International, Nur Fadhilah Muhammad, were also in attendance during the event.

 

The requirements outlined in SIRIM 50 are consistent with international social standards such as SA 8000 and ISO 26000. The standard serves to advance the sustainability efforts of Malaysian companies in line with the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, namely Goal 8 of decent work and economic growth.

 

President and Group Chief Executive SIRIM Berhad, Dato’ Dr Ahmad Sabirin Arshad, stated that the launch of the SIRIM 50 scheme aligns with the Group’s commitment to assist companies in Malaysia incorporate the principles of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) into their business operations.

 

"ESG is pivotal to business today as it affects a company’s reputation and its relationship with stakeholders. Therefore, I strongly urge all companies to participate and implement the SIRIM 50 standard," he said.

 

During her presentation on the SIRIM 50 scheme, Nur Fadhilah Muhammad, the CEO of SIRIM QAS International, explained that the standard will help Malaysian companies demonstrate their commitment to the welfare of workers and the community. She further highlighted that this will not only enhance competitiveness of these companies but also contribute to business growth and productivity.

 

"The event has achieved its goal of promoting the SIRIM 50 scheme, and we are confident that the introduction of this standard will surely elevate the labour sector in Malaysia to new heights," she affirmed.

SIRIM QAS International perkenal Skim Akauntabiliti Sosial – SIRIM 50

                 

PUTRAJAYA, 18 Mei 2022: SIRIM QAS International, badan penilaian pematuhan utama Malaysia, anak syarikat milik SIRIM Berhad, hari ini melancarkan Skim Akauntabiliti Sosial – SIRIM 50 bagi membantu syarikat di Malaysia untuk mengurus impak perniagaan mereka terhadap masyarakat dan komuniti yang berkaitan keperluan tenaga kerja, hak-hak pekerja dan kebajikan serta keselamatan persekitaran kerja.

 

Standard Skim SIRIM 50 dibangunkan bagi menambah baik akauntabiliti sosial dan operasi syarikat, SIRIM STS Sdn Bhd anak syarikat milik penuh SIRIM Berhad telah membangunkan standard tersebut sebagai asas penyediaan khidmat latihan dan konsultansi, selain turut menjadi teras kepada pengauditan dan pemeriksaan terhadap majikan yang berpangkalan di Malaysia.

 

Majlis pelancaran tersebut telah dirasmikan oleh Presiden dan Ketua Eksekutif Kumpulan SIRIM, Dato’ Dr Ahmad Sabirin Arshad. Hadir sama, Naib Presiden dan Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Pengurusan Sumber Manusia Persekutuan Pekilang-Pekilang Malaysia (FMM), Dato’ Nathan K Suppiah dan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif SIRIM QAS International, Nur Fadhilah Muhammad.

Keperluan di bawah Standard Skim SIRIM 50 konsisten dengan standard sosial antarabangsa seperti SA 8000 dan ISO 26000. Ia akan mendorong usaha kelestarian syarikat di Malaysia selari dengan Agenda Pembangunan Mampan 2030, terutamanya Matlamat 8 berkenaan pekerjaan yang baik atau dan perkembangan ekonomi.

 

Presiden dan Ketua Eksekutif Kumpulan SIRIM, Dato’ Dr Ahmad Sabirin Arshad berkata, Skim SIRIM 50 adalah selaras dengan komitmen SIRIM untuk membantu syarikat–syarikat di Malaysia melaksanakan prinsip-prinsip berasaskan amalan alam sekitar, sosial dan tadbir urus (ESG) terutamanya dalam aspek sosial.

 

"ESG amat penting dalam perniagaan hari ini kerana ia memberikan kesan yang besar kepada reputasi sesebuah syarikat dan hubungan syarikat tersebut dengan pemegang berkepentingan. Oleh itu saya menyeru semua syarikat untuk turut serta dalam mengimplementasikan Skim SIRIM 50 ini," katanya.

 

Semasa acara tersebut, Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif SIRIM QAS International, Nur Fadhilah Muhammad turut membuat pembentangan mengenai SIRIM 50. Beliau turut menjelaskan standard tersebut dapat membantu syarikat-syarikat yang berpangkalan di Malaysia untuk menunjukkan komitmen mereka terhadap kepentingan pekerja dan komuniti yang mampu meningkatkan produktiviti dan daya saing syarikat.

 

"Majlis perasmian ini dilihat telah mencapai objektif dalam memperkenalkan dan mempromosikan Skim SIRIM 50 yang pastinya akan memperkasakan sektor pekerjaan Malaysia ke suatu tahap yang lebih tinggi," katanya.
