From waste to award-winning product, a natural bioactive dermatocide anti-fungal cream has been formulated with rambutan rind extract. Innovated to improve skin and nails discomfort, the cream is the first of its kind to use natural resources as active ingredients.
The anti-fungal cream won gold medal during the International Exhibition, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX) 2019 has antioxidant, multi-spectrum anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties with negligible side effects or toxicity. It is non-cytotoxic, safe and non-irritant. The cream can also be used to moisturise, increase smoothness, reduce itchiness and redness of skin.
It is formulated with high-antioxidant natural plant extract to nourish and strengthen nails and free from chemical pollutants. As the extract is derived from a natural resource, the product is safe, even for children to use.
This product innovation was led by Industrial Biotechnology Research Centre (IBRC), SIRIM. IBRC is an active participant in conducting commercial biotechnology projects together with local organisations and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) for the production of bio-based products from renewable resources that hold great potential value for industries in many sectors, including chemicals, wellness and healthcare.
