Shah Alam, 27 February 2024: The holistic collaboration between SIRIM Berhad and The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) was translated today with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), formalising a collaborative alliance aimed at fostering innovation, knowledge exchange, and industry advancement.
This historic agreement brings together two esteemed organisations dedicated to the promotion and enhancement of engineering practices in Malaysia. This partnership marks a significant milestone and presents a unique opportunity to further strengthen Malaysia's technological ecosystem through joint initiatives such as applied research activities, training and attachment programmes; exchange technical information and expertise in the research and development of industrial technology in driving positive change and contribute to the betterment of the engineering profession and society at large.
The MoU was signed by the President and Group Chief Executive Officer of SIRIM Berhad, Dato' Indera Ir. Dr. Ahmad Sabirin Arshad and President of IEM, Ir. Prof. Dr. Norlida Buniyamin. The signing of the MoU between IEM and SIRIM represents a significant milestone in the history of both organisations and underscores their shared commitment to advancing engineering excellence in Malaysia.
Dato' Indera Ir. Dr. Ahmad Sabirin Arshad, stated that this MoU is a direct reflection of SIRIM's on-going initiative to work closely with industry professionals to enhance Malaysia's technological landscape. “We are eager to combine our strengths with IEM to foster a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing, and industry advancement. This partnership holds a great promise for the future of engineering in Malaysia.

Through this partnership, both organisations are poised to strengthen their collective impact on the engineering landscape, supporting local industries and nurturing the growth of engineering professionals," he said.
Meanwhile, Ir. Prof. Dr. Norlida Buniyamin said they are thrilled to formalise the strategic partnership with SIRIM. This collaboration signifies a momentous step forward for both organisations allowing us to harness synergies, share knowledge and expertise, and collectively strive to elevate the standards of engineering practice, nurture professional growth, and propel the Malaysian economy forward.
