The MoU signing ceremony formalised PTB and SIRIM’s alliance in areas of cooperation, collaboration, promotion and research across all industries in Brunei. This partnership marks a significant milestone and presents a unique opportunity to boost SIRIM's international business expansion and create opportunities for new and innovative products and services

The MoU outlines a comprehensive framework for cooperation between SIRIM and PTB, covering several key areas:
a) Engineering and Technology
b) Agricultural Science
c) Social Science and Humanities
d) Technology Transfer and Commercialization
e) Other mutually agreed research areas

The MoU also establishes a collaborative forum focusing on enhancing industry standards through joint efforts in calibration, measurement, certification, and testing, while also strengthening networks in industry research, technology transfer, and quality infrastructure services. It includes provisions for specialised training and consultancy to support industry growth and innovation, initiatives to nurture entrepreneurs and technopreneurs, and flexibility to explore additional collaborative activities as mutually agreed upon by both parties.

The MoU was signed by the President and Group Chief Executive Officer of SIRIM Berhad, Dato’ Indera Ir. Dr. Ahmad Sabirin Arshad and the Managing Director of PTB, Pengiran FDr. Hishamuddin Alli Pengiran Jaya Indera Pengiran Haji Mokhtar Puteh.

Dato’ Indera Ir. Dr. Ahmad Sabirin stated, "This MoU signifies a crucial step in our commitment to driving Malaysia’s industrial and technological progress. By partnering with Pakar Tenaga Bersatu, we are combining our expertise and resources to foster innovation and enhance the nation’s competitiveness on a global scale."

The MoU signing ceremony was hosted by the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Brunei Darussalam (NCCIBD) and presided over by Yang Mulia Awang Haji Abdul Saman bin Haji Ahmad, President of NCCIBD.
