Datuk Ir. (Dr) Khairol Anuar Mohamad Tawi began his career with Jabatan Telekom Malaysia in 1983 before joining SAPURA Group, where he was involved in the development of Malaysia’s telecommunications infrastructure, including the launch of the country’s first prepaid service, UNIPHONEKAD.
In 1994, he founded KAT Technologies Sdn Bhd and currently serves as its Executive Chairman. Under his leadership, the company grew into one of Malaysia’s leading prepaid distribution and digital solutions providers, with regional operations extending to Nepal and Bangladesh. His contributions to entrepreneurship and innovation have been recognised through several industry awards, including the 1-InnoCERT Award for Service Innovation, the Asia Pacific ICT Award (APICTA), The Star Outstanding Business Awards (SOBA) 2014 – Entrepreneur of the Year (Special Mention) and The Star Outstanding Business Awards (SOBA) 2013, Technology Innovation, both organised by The Star Media Group.
Under Datuk Khairol’s visionary leadership, the company has won numerous prestigious awards both locally and internationally, cementing its reputation as Malaysia’s leading digital distribution specialist in retail and supply chain.
Datuk Khairol is a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia and a Fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Management. He previously served on the boards of several organisations, including MAIM Holdings Berhad, Institut Sukan Negara and Tabung Amanah Melaka.
Prior to his appointment as Chairman of SIRIM Berhad in May 2023, he served on the Board of Directors of SIRIM Berhad and its subsidiaries. He currently also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of Digital Perak Corporation Berhad and Chairman of the Investment Panel of Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT).
